Going the extra mile for Europe and Asia

Galata Oak is the result of a customer request, a feel for the market and an international heartbeat

Galata is one of the trendiest districts of Istanbul. Its landmark is the famous 14th-century Galata Tower with a breathtaking view of the geographical dividing line between Europe and Asia. Here, on the Bosphorus Strait, not only have the cultures of the world met for thousands of years, but today young people enjoy themselves in chic bars and restaurants as well as frequenting small shops with local color. Everywhere you look, there are centuries-old mosques, synagogues and churches. Our Galata Oak décor stems from this cosmopolitan spirit: it has taken markets from Türkiye to the Middle East by storm.

We have developed the Galata Oak floor décor exclusively for our customer Çamsan Entegre based on the market demand for a contemporary oak design. Modern urbanity and a look with large knots are no longer conflicting themes: because the hearts of the younger generation from Türkiye to the Middle East beat for a new, beautiful rusticity, whose makeup should be both tradition-conscious and future-oriented.

"We are happy for our customer Çamsan Entegre because Galata Oak is particularly popular especially among discerning, younger target groups in the style-loving Turkish metropolises. From there, we currently see its success growing further towards Egyptian and Middle Eastern markets.”

Turning customer ideas into reality

Our client, Çamsan Entegre, wanted us to develop a rustic yet modern oak design for the flooring sector. However, it was to be in clear contrast to the typical, much-seen oak décors that dominated the market at the time.

How Galata Oak came into being

With enthusiasm, our design and sales team at Schattdecor’s Turkish location in Gebze, together with the Head of Décor Management at the Thansau headquarters, Christian Zaha, began to combine the first excerpts and create proof papers. Step by step, we converged on our customer’s vision. Following a number of detailed changes, a proof would soon be defined – as Çamsan Entegre saw their décor concept perfectly reproduced in reality.

One Source. Unlimited Solutions: Going the extra mile for a customer

Thanks to an extremely ambitious joint international effort, we were able to complete the creation of Galata Oak to the satisfaction of our customer. This milestone came about when Çamsan Entegre approved our proof paper as we were able to respond to their confidence in our expertise. This is where Galata Oak’s success story began.

The name

We gave the décor its name, Galata Oak, in part as a loving homage to Türkiye and also to commemorate the significance Galata Tower has held for Istanbul since 1348. Today the tower serves as a museum and exhibition space; but once it was the tallest building in the city as it watched over the then known world. It embodies the approach we take to projects, as we, too, look far ahead and establish a special rapport with people and markets.

Our main focus is on developing high-impact, competitive décors that the end consumers will ultimately buy. To this end, we continuously adapt our trend themes to specific markets and target groups.

International Team Work

Galata Oak is the result of highly committed international and intercultural cooperation. We supported Çamsan Entegre in close cooperation with our colleagues at our German headquarters in Thansau. Together we overcame multiple language and cultural differences and bundled individual perspectives and views to achieve our joint success. Once again, we succeeded in demonstrating that strong communication skills are ultimately part of décor success. Only with this strong trait can we understand the wishes and visions of our customers and to bring them to fruition.

Hundreds of tons of Galata Oak by the end of 2022!

We received our first print order in September 2020 - and have produced several hundred tons since then. As of 2022, we will have ten Galata Oak colors in our portfolio.

Looking back, the success of the Galata Oak flooring décor is the result of a long-term process in which our international team joined forces to fight for our customer's market success. We are proud and satisfied that we were able to prove that we are willing to go not just one, but as many extra miles as necessary to implement a good idea.
