OOO Schattdecor, the Russian subsidiary of the globally-active decor paper printer Schattdecor AG of Thansau, southeast Germany, has won one of the Otto Wolff von Amerongen SME Awards. The trophies were presented by the Russian-German Chamber of Foreign Trade on 25 November in Moscow. Schattdecor won the prize in the category of German small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaged in Russia (such as Knauf, Hochland, Rehau and Hess), while Kaspersky Lab came out top in the category of Russian SMEs with operations in Germany.
The award, which was being given for the first time, is dedicated to the memory of Otto Wolff von Amerongen (d. 2007), the German industrialist who played a seminal role in opening up postwar German-Russian relations, and who went on to head Germany's high-ranking Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations (OE). The distinctions, which are to be presented every two years in future, have been established to commend small and medium-sized German and Russian enterprises that stand for progress, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit and that play a role in fostering German/Russian economic relations.
A jury made up of noted German and Russian politicians and economists who had been personally acquainted with Otto Wolff von Amerongen put the entries submitted by 21 German and six Russian businesses to careful consideration and came up with a shortlist of the following eight:

• Knauf CIS
• OOO Rehau
• OOO Schattdecor
• OOO Veka Rus
• Kaspersky Lab
• Dovgan GmbH
The OOO Schattdecor plant of Chekhov (70 km south of Moscow), complete with its production facility in Schatura (140 km west of the capital), was able to decide the final round in its favour along with Russian anti-virus developer Kaspersky Lab.
Harald Purainer, Chief Financial Officer of Schattdecor AG and Managing Director of OOO Schattdecor, accepted the prize together with OOO Schattdecor Executive Director Jens Palmen, and thanked all staff members for their hard work and commitment in building up business in Russia
Schattdecor sees the prestigious award as recognition of its efforts to develop the Russian furniture market and deepen German/Russian business relations, and also as acknowledgement of the corporate social involvement of its Russian subsidiary.
