20.04.2009 Schattdecor's all-round environmental commitment – Heightened environmental awareness reflected in trend themes for 2009
|
Ever since Schattdecor's foundation, environmental protection has been one of the decor paper printer's declared goals. This is reflected in its development and production work by use of environmentally compatible materials such as water-soluble inks on the basis of organic, heavy-metal-free pigments. Being committed to practices that avoid, reduce and re-use waste, Schattdecor deploys environmentally compatible materials that facilitate later recycling, and is the initiator of a globally unique system of recycling reels of printed decor paper introduced in 1995. Schattdecor encourages its employees to conserve natural resources not only in production operations but also on a workaday level. Sorting waste and making sparing use of working materials express the workforce's sense of responsibility for the environment. In ensuring that its environmental indicators meet specifications not only in Germany but also on an international level, it goes without saying that Schattdecor equips its production facilities with own wastewater treatment systems. Thanks to the company's Environmental Guidelines and the 'Made by Schattdecor' quality assurance programme, all the plants in the Schattdecor group work according to binding principles and undergo auditing every year. Many other measures characterise Schattdecor's environmental commitment, as shown by the fact that it undertakes further voluntary measures in the ecological and climate protection field every year. This approach is also expressed in the fact that Schattdecor has been a member of the Bavarian Environmental Pact since 2001. It supports the goals and principles of the Forest Stewardship Council and has been a corporate sustaining member of the FSC German chapter since 2008. Reflecting the growth of environmental awareness of society as a whole, Schattdecor's 2009/2010 trend themes show how nature is being increasingly incorporated into modern home interiors. This is particularly symbolised in the company's new trend brochure by use of the colour green, which also plays in instrumental role in Schattdecor's 2009 Interzum showing.
