Schattdecor receives 2008 Deloitte Axia Award in 'Preserving Values' category

The internationally noted auditing company Deloitte & Touche recently conferred its Axia Awards in Bavaria for the first time, presenting the trophies in a ceremony that took place in the Hubertus Room of Munich's Nymphenburg Palace on 29.01.2008. Medium-sized enterprises that no matter their branch demonstrate increased attention to leadership and control structures as well as sustainable and responsible business management practices were honoured at the event. Altogether more than 90 Bavarian companies with annual sales of at least €25 million competed for the coveted awards.
"Due to the great interest shown last year in the Axia Awards, we have broadened the scope of the competition to include Bavaria, Germany's largest state, to honour outstanding companies within its borders", stated  Klaus Löffler, Managing Partner SME Sector at Deloitte, at the Munich ceremony. "The entrants were asked to describe how they implement responsible business management and to outline their efforts in the key areas of preserving values and traditions, mastering challenges and actively shaping the future."
Axia is an Ancient Greek terms and means 'value' as well as 'ability' and 'success', all attributes that the winners of the competition categories 'Mastering the Present', 'Shaping the Future' and 'Preserving Values' were seen as possessing. In arriving at their decisions, the jury particularly focused on aspects such as corporate strategy, financing, corporate management and control, and human resources and knowledge management.

'Preserving Values' award went to Schattdecor
Schattdecor AG, the leading producer of printed decor paper emerged triumphant in the 'Preserving Values' category, having particularly convinced the jury of its corporate philosophy and its strategy for ensuring the company's future. Its CEO Reiner Schulz accepted the award on the company's behalf.

As jury chairwoman Prof. Dr. Anja Tuschke of Munich University stated, "The findings of the study conducted as part of the competition show that mid-sized enterprises interpret Corporate Governance as good business management in the very best sense". As she continued, "There are no uniform solutions suitable for the individual circumstances and qualities of all companies. Most of those competing have optimised their financial management instruments, put the potential of strategic planning and management to good use and regard the values that they uphold as an advantage on the marketplace."
