Schattdecor celebrates opening of new plant in Chekhov – Over 300 guests from Russia and Eastern Europe

Harry Purainer and Vladimir Denisov, the directors of Schattdecor's new production facility in Chekhov, Russia, welcomed over 300 guests from Russia and neighbouring Eastern European countries to the plant's opening on 29 October, 2008.
Following a good two years of construction work and an investment of some €40 million, the first reels of decor paper were printed and delivered to customers in early August. Since then the plant has printed over 1,000 tonnes of decor paper, bearing witness to the productivity and commitment of the approx. 50 employees at the new location
The Chekhov facility is located on a plot measuring 105,000 square metres in size, and has over 14,000 square metres of production and storage space plus a 1,700-square-metre office wing. It acts as the headquarters of Schattdecor's three Russian plants and serves Russian customers as a centre of excellence for product development and design. The Chekhov works is well equipped for the future, featuring six printing machines with a 2.20-metre max. web width, and offers perfect warehouse logistics operations for fast deliveries. The production facilities, offices and showroom reflect Schattdecor's high global standards and create a special working atmosphere for both employees and customers.
Headed by Harald Purainer and Vladimir Denisov, the workforce in Chekhov is a well-coordinated team made up of staffers drawn from Schattdecor's locations in Moscow, Schatura and Penza and newly-recruited personnel from the Chekhov area. The employees are now looking forward to demonstrating the plant's core competency in decor printing and keeping its offerings at a high quality level.

Plants in Schatura and Penza
OOO <<schattdecor>>, the Schattdecor group's first Russian production facility, was set up in 2000 in Schatura. Its two existing impregnation lines were modernised in 2002 and a new one was installed this year. The site's old printing machine was dismantled last year and its printing activities shifted to Schattdecor's decor printing plant in Penza. Now equipped with impregnation facilities alone, the Schatura works is Schattdecor's impregnation centre in Russia and as such produces a broad array of melamine foil, finish foil and edge banding in various formats for the Russian furniture industry. This product diversity faces the production team headed by Jens Palmen with ever-new tasks. The location's specialists have many years of product development experience to their name, enabling them to provide customers with expert advice on how to achieve the desired product characteristics. As the first dedicated impregnation company in Russia, OOO<<schattdecor>> has helped develop quality consciousness and establish high market standards in collaboration with its customers.
The Penza decor printing works, for its part, was established in 2002 as a joint venture with OAO Mayak but has been a wholly-owned Schattdecor subsidiary since 2005. Equipped with three printing machines, Penza is the most productive manufacturer of printed decor paper in European quality in Russia. Under the leadership of Robert Vuga, the workforce has been swift and committed in adopting the Schattdecor philosophy while retaining its own identity at the same time.

The human factor as a key to success
The three locations in Russia bear witness to the particular significance that the country holds for the Schattdecor group. OOO<<schattdecor>> is thus a little proud of its contribution to building up the Russian furniture and laminate flooring market, and looks forward to continuing to play an active role in future. This can only be achieved with excellent and committed staff members, who are of decisive importance for the success of the company.

Well-orchestrated expertise
Every employee involved in order processing, work planning, production and shipping holds responsibility for ensuring that the products are as perfect as possible. The staffers are supported in their work by the Made by Schattdecor standard, which sets out quality-relevant parameters for Schattdecor locations throughout the world. Well-trained employees, future-oriented design work, best-selling decors, modern lab technology, heavy-duty machines and top-quality materials all contribute to the quality products that Schattdecor stands for, whether printed decor paper, melamine foil, edge banding or finish foil.

Partnership approach coupled with experience and quality
Schattdecor's offerings are based on knowing which decor meets requirements best and which finish characteristics the product needs to have for the application involved. At the same time, the company is aware of the trends and themes that move the market. The decor specialists at the Schattdecor's group headquarters in Thansau work hand in hand with their application engineering colleagues to ensure perfect implementation from the initial idea to the finished furniture or laminate flooring decor. Dependability + trust all over the world – this is the Made by Schattdecor message.
