Yang Huiqun, the Chinese consul general in Munich, recently thanked Walter Schatt in person for the extremely generous donation of €130,000 made by the Schatt family and the Schattdecor subsidiaries in Shanghai und Quzhou on behalf of the victims of the disastrous earthquake that took place in China's Si-chuan Province last May.
Walter Schatt, Supervisory Board Chairman of Schattdecor AG, was in China at the time and thus learned directly of the great suffering of the people of Sichuan, the province hit worst by the disaster. Along with all the employees of the Schattdecor subsidiaries in Shanghai und Quzhou, he commemorated the victims during China's three-day period of national mourning.
At the donation ceremony in Munich, consul general Huiqun stated that the Chinese consulate general was convinced the disaster could be overcome "with the support of the whole Chinese nation and the help of the international community."
