On April 22, 2008, OOO schattdecor officially took its third impregnation line in Schatura into operation in the presence of customers, guests and employees.
Schattdecor AG, a decor paper printer of Thansau, Germany, made its production entry on the Russian market on October 1, 2000, the date it acquired the Decor Paper Printing, Impregnating and Varnish Division of Schatura, a Russian wood-processing combine. The resulting wholly-owned subsidiary – OOO schattdecor – is situated about 140 km east of Moscow, giving it a very central location that enables it to make swift deliveries to customers in central Russia and neighbouring markets.
The company's existing two decor paper impregnation lines, Vits and Babcock makes respectively, have been continuously upgraded since 2002 to increase production capacity and improve product quality. Customers in Russia and other former CIS states are thus able to choose among best-selling decors from Schattdecor's programme of over 1,000 designs in the form of innovative melamine and finish foil products in all surface finishes for furniture and doors.
As part of the Schattdecor Group, OOO schattdecor benefits from the company's longstanding worldwide experience in fields as varied as paper and ink production, cylinder engraving, decor paper development and printing, pre-impregnated paper and post-impregnated foil lacquering, and melamine foil production, making it a competent and reliable partner to the Russian timber products and furniture industry.
To prepare for further market growth and accommodate the increasing significance held by the Russian and neighbouring markets, Schattdecor AG decided a few years ago to provide Schatura with a third impregnation line. The first step involved discontinuing decor printing activities at the plant and relocating them completely to Penza, the site of Schattdecor's second Russian production facility. This was followed by installation of a latest-generation dedicated melamine line made by Vits Systems GmbH of Langenfeld, Germany, enabling the Schatura works to provide customers with melamine foil at working widths of up of to 2300 mm. This increase in capacity will ensure a reliable and constant supply in future and allow OOO schattdecor to respond to market developments in a swift and customer-oriented manner.
At an inauguration ceremony held for the new impregnation line on April 22, 2008, over 60 invited guests learned more about Schattdecor AG in general and its Russian activities in particular. The event included a guided tour of the plant in which the guests were able to gain an idea of its modern and high-capacity impregnation activities. The subsequent banquet provided plenty of opportunity to form a deeper impression of Schattdecor and its work.
