In a demonstration of the breadth of its finish foil expertise, Schattdecor will be presenting its new collection of exciting and technically sophisticated foil decors in attractive collection folders at the ZOW 2008. The decor specialist will also be showcasing its 2008 Smartfoil collection, a family of foil products based on sized, delamination-proof pre-impregnated paper, including top decors such as those that caused a sensation at the Cologne International Furniture Show (IMM) in January.
One such decor was the best-selling Virginia Walnut, a particularly stunning design that will be placed on view at the ZOW in a high gloss Smartfoil finish.
Another of the products that impressed the trade audience at the IMM was Salisbury Oak. At the ZOW, Schattdecor will be exhibiting this decor at the Sleep section of its booth, displaying it in a new and finely nuanced grey hue enhanced by a perfected real pore texture for a particularly realistic look.
A further IMM success story concerns Camargue Oak, another decor featuring real pores that cannot be distinguished from the real thing. Whether in natural colouration or in a muted whitish look in line with latest trends, it is sure to make a strong statement at the ZOW as a sophisticated furniture decor.
Last year, over 100 million square metres of finishfoil was produced by Schattdecor in Poland, Italy, Russia, China and Brazil for customers all over the world. The company also took far-reaching decisions in 2007, such as one to set up a Foil Innovation Centre at the parent plant in Thansau, Germany, to expand its position on the foil market.
The Foil Innovation Centre was taken into operation in January, complete with a foil R&D pilot line designed and produced by Rotodecor, Schattdecor's machine engineering arm, and Schattdecor's foil specialists have been enthusiastically at work on developing foil products with new or enhanced characteristics ever since. The R&D unit, which is structurally identical to Schattdecor’s large foil production lines in Poland, Brazil and China, forms the mainstay of the group’s foil development activities, which in a further customer service enhancement measure are now pooled in Thansau to enable clients to colour match all desired decors in every foil quality and depart with the resulting lab reel under their arm.
In mid-2007, the Schattdecor foil plant in Głuchołazy, Poland, took up work on a new Rotodecor foil line that can provide decors with all lacquer finishes from standard to R4 and even further in widths up to 2750 mm. Along with the other high-performance lacquering line already in place in Głuchołazy, the new unit represents a significant capacity increase in Smartfoil made by Schattdecor.
